1. Personal Data We Collect and Why We Collect It
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data displayed in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can view the Gravatar service’s privacy policy here. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please refrain from including images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the site.
Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These cookies are for your convenience to avoid re-entering your details on subsequent comments. They last for one year.
If you have an account and log in, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
Upon logging in, several cookies will be established to save your login information and display choices. Login cookies last for two days, while screen option cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser, indicating the post ID of the article you just edited. This cookie expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if the visitor has visited that site. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.
2. Data Retention
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely to automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments. For users who register on our website, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except for their username. Website administrators can also access and edit this information.
3. Your Rights Over Your Data
If you have an account or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold, excluding data we must retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
4. Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
